Deuteronomy 30:9-14

⁹^(A)The Lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground. ^(B)For the Lord will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your fathers, ¹⁰when you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this Book of the Law, when you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

The Choice of Life and Death

¹¹“For this commandment that I command you today ^(C)is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. ¹²^(D)It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ ¹³Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ ¹⁴But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.

Teach Me Your Paths

25 To you, O Lord, I ^(A)lift up my soul.
²O my God, in you I ^(B)trust;
    ^(C)let me not be put to shame;
    ^(D)let not my enemies exult over me.
³Indeed, ^(E)none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
    they shall be ashamed who are ^(F)wantonly ^(G)treacherous.

⁴^(H)Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
⁵Lead me in your ^(I)truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
    for you I wait all the day long.

⁶Remember your ^(J)mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
    ^(K)for they have been from of old.
⁷Remember not ^(L)the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    according to your ^(M)steadfast love remember me,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!

⁸^(N)Good and upright is the Lord;
    therefore he ^(O)instructs sinners in the way.
⁹He leads the humble in what is right,
    and teaches the humble his way.
¹⁰All the paths of the Lord are ^(P)steadfast love and faithfulness,
    for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

¹¹For your ^(Q)name's sake, O Lord,
    pardon my guilt, for it is ^(R)great.
¹²Who is the man who fears the Lord?
    Him ^(S)will he instruct in the way that he should choose.
¹³His soul shall ^(T)abide in well-being,
    and his ^(U)offspring ^(V)shall inherit the land.
¹⁴^(W)The friendship^[b] of the Lord is for those who fear him,
    and he makes known to them his covenant.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

³^(F)We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, ⁴since we heard of ^(G)your faith in Christ Jesus and of ^(H)the love that you have for all the saints, ⁵because of ^(I)the hope ^(J)laid up for you in heaven. ²⁵^(A)And behold, a ^(B)lawyer stood up to ^(C)put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to ^(D)inherit eternal life?” ²⁶He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” ²⁷And he answered, ^(E)“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and ^(F)your neighbor as yourself.” ²⁸And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; ^(G)do this, and you will live.”

²⁹But he, ^(H)desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” ³⁰Jesus replied, “A man ^(I)was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. ³¹Now by chance a ^(J)priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. ³²So likewise ^(K)a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. ³³But a ^(L)Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. ³⁴He went to him and ^(M)bound up his wounds, pouring on ^(N)oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. ³⁵And the next day he took out two ^(O)denarii^[a] and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ ³⁶Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” ³⁷He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
